Choose The Right Fly Fishing Lodges For Your Trip
Fly fishing lodges can be found all over the North American continent and across the world. They can provide accommodation for anything between two and usually eight people, although some are even larger than that. They can be available to families or groups of people who make their own way to the fishing location, or they can be reserved for those who book a complete trip, with flight included. If your idea of the dream vacation is to spend a few relaxing days fishing, and relaxing nights in a comfortable but rustic fly fishing lodge, there are many ways to make this happen.
The most obvious choice you need to make before you plan any fishing trip is where you want to go. This may depend on the type of fish you want to catch, on the climatic conditions you want to experience, on your level of competence as a fisherman, or whether there are other members of the family traveling with you who want to pursue different interests. You may be lucky enough to live relatively close to some good fishing areas, in which case you can save money by driving there. This works best if you have a group of people who can share the effort.
Your experience as a fisherman should have a profound influence on your chosen fishing lodge. Unless you know that you only have a short time to experience the best in fishing, don't be tempted to attempt too much too soon. The best and most expensive trips work best for experienced people who can just get straight to work, so if you are not yet at that level choose a cheaper trip and a fly fishing lodge nearer home. The exception to this is where you are planning a learning trip, and know that there will be an excellent teacher there to help you.
If you are planning a family trip, and you have members of the family who don't share your passion for fishing, you will need to make sure that there will be something for them as well. As the best fishing tends to be in spectacular locations, there is usually something for everyone. There are nearly always sight seeing and photography trips, and in many cases you can see the landscape from the air.
The best fly fishing lodges are run by companies who have been organizing fishing trips for decades. These are in locations which are perfect for fishing, such as the Great Lakes on the Canadian border, Montana and Alaska. If you can afford the fees for these trips, they represent the ultimate in fishing experiences. You are virtually guaranteed to be successful in catching the fish that you have set out to catch, and you will do so in a location you will remember for a lifetime. These locations have some very comfortable fly fishing lodges.
